Ollama makes it straightforward to download and run many language models locally. This AtlasRepo Short looks at the project as infrastructure for practical business and productivity workflows—not just as a one-command demo.
Watch the 20-second AtlasRepo review:
Local inference can improve data control, offline access, latency predictability, and experimentation cost. The trade-offs are model quality, memory pressure, hardware limits, throughput, model provenance, updates, and the engineering needed around the model. “Runs locally” is only the first acceptance test.
Measure your own tasks with a fixed evaluation set. Record model name and version, quantization, prompt, hardware, latency, and answer quality. If a workflow affects customers or important decisions, add monitoring and a clear fallback path.
Compare local-model and AI infrastructure projects in the AtlasRepo catalog.
Discussion: Which local LLM tasks have delivered real value for you, and where do hosted models still win decisively?
